Storm Ciara

The perfect Sunday, blogging and having to shout at each other because storm Ciara’s voice is louder than ours!! We’re tied up nice and tight & the boat pole & plank are strapped down, so all is good. ‘If’ the rain subsides soon, we’re going to stroll to look at the River Douglas here at Rufford, as with an exceptionally high tide due & the rain it’ll be running fairly high.

Spring is well & truly on it’s way. Last weekend we saw these tiny lambs at Brick Kiln Farm, Rufford and snow drops too.

 

I’ve been having a knitting & spinning frenzy.

I made these 4 pairs of socks for January & February birthdays.

A green handspun & two hats with some left over sock yarn.

Spun up two hanks of Wensleydale fleece that my friend Max gave me.

Finished spinning and plying my swap fibre I got from Ali in our Team Towpath Twizzlers swap. It’s lovely and soft being a merino wool/silk blend by Ali & plied with silk.

And on the needles at the moment are a scarf and some socks actually for me. Since this photo I’ve unpicked the scarf as I didn’t like it and added a contrasting yarn that is in the photo.

Carole & Colin (from The Wool Boat) took me to see the drained Loon Aqueduct on the Lancster Canal last week. CRT are relining the section of canal approaching it, which is at the top of a high embankment. I took lots of photos, but unfortunatly they got deleted!! So a huge thank you to Colin for these two pics.

John strolled along the canal looking for trains & wild life.

 

Yesterday John did a weaving class with Cathy (Lazykate Textiles) at Ten Streets Market, by the old docks in Liverpool. I went along and over saw the proceedings from the back of the room and spun all day….bliss. Plus, my friend strolled up from her winter mooring in Salthouse Dock for a chat.

 

On our way home we popped into a lovely pub, The Lion Tavern.
