This is my third year of taking part in BritSpin, the 4-day spinning marathon. There are teams of 10 spinners, and we are ‘Team Towpath Twizzlers’. We’re a far-flung team (perfect for 100’s of miles of social distancing) with members in Somerset, Suffolk, North and the north-west. The aim of the event is to have lots of fun while spinning and learning new skills. Plus, raise money for charity. This year we are supporting the RNLI. PLEASE, if you can, do donate and mention either me/and or Team Towpath Twizzlers.
My late cousin Christopher volunteered at Caister Lifeboat (not an RNLI boat).
Some of Ed’s paramedic friends volunteer on the RNLI boats on the River Thames.
My bobbins are all empty ready for the off tomorrow.
I have carded some fibre that I can’t wait to spin.
One of my team mates popped over for tea while we were at Bingley.
We’ve had a lovely journey through Lancashire and out into Yorkshire. The amount of rubbish and weed in the canal at Blackburn was tremendous. However, the rubbish did diminish the other side of the town.
We were early for Foulridge Tunnel so had to wait for the traffic lights to turn green.
We had a lovely surprise at Rose Grove CRT services, planters with
herbs and vegetables to take. I didn’t look like anyone else had
taken any rhubarb, so we took a few stalks.
I de-headed the lavender & have made a lavender bag for the bedroom draws.
We so love travelling over motorways.
We tried our best but couldn’t make it to the end of the rainbow.
We spent a few days at one of our favourite spots in the Marton Pool on the Yorkshire moors. We had loads of rain and the fields that had a shoot in them the day before, had a stream by the morning.
We had a stow-away.
Edmund and his friend Ella came for a few days of knitting and cruising. Ed knitted a woolly hat while they were here.
It was most odd going down Bingley Five Rise locks and not being able to help the lockkeepers. The whole lock side is cordoned off due to the pandemic and protecting the lock staff, which means we just had to watch from the boat.
We went scrumping at the lockkeepers garden. The apple tree was loaded with apples.
We had apple cake and a crumble. The apples are pink inside.
The bottom lock gates are very leaky!!!
Lovely post. Though I'd like to point out that I'm not in the North West!
